"I lost consciousness in the helicopter and I remember thinking I was dead, and that this was the end…then nothing,” Jim has no memory of his time in the hospital during his stroke, but came out the other side dedicated to fight his way back. And fight he did!

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month!

The Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts is asking our community to get involved.
Over 107,000 children and adults sustain a brain injury in Massachusetts each year. Help BIA-MA raise important awareness about this silent epidemic this month.

During the month of March, help us raise awareness, encourage advocacy, and promote prevention!

Become a Member:
With the support of our generous members and donors BIA-MA assists individuals and families who experience the life changing and sometimes devastating effects of brain injury. You can help becoming a member or making a donation during the month of March.

Membership provides unique benefits to you and your family, such as magazine and newsletter subscriptions and discounts to our Annual Brain Injury Conference (also in March!). Or simply make a donation to support the work that BIA-MA does in support of survivors of brain injury, their families, and caregivers.

SPECIAL OFFER: Join or renew your membership this month and be entered to win a twosome to our Annual Golf Classic on June 19, 2017 at the Haven Country Club in Boylston, MA.

Communicate: Follow us on social! and Use the #NotAloneinBrainInjury with pictures or facts to increase awareness about brain injury and support survivors.

Attend: Our Annual Conference will be held on March 30, 2017. Register today or join us at local support groups, events and walks in your area.

March is a great opportunity to advocate for brain injury programs and state funding with your local legislators. On February 1, 2017 over 200 survivors, supporters and legislators attended our annual Advocacy Day at the State House in Boston, MA. This is just one way to advocate for more funding and better services for brain injury survivors in the Commonwealth. To get involved, email Advocacy Associate, Kelly Buttiglieri at

BIA-MA offers many ways for volunteers to get involved, from every day office activities to special events. Anyone can volunteer! Sign up in March to become a volunteer!

Interested in speaking on behalf of Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts? The BIA-MA’s Speakers Bureau is a group of brain injury survivors, family members, or people affected by brain injury who want to share their story in public forums. These outreach opportunities include BIA-MA hosted Prevention Programs or other BIA-MA events. It’s a great way to educate the community on brain injury awareness. Click here to get involved!
