One Split Second
KEYS Announces New Video
How do you impress upon parents and their teen drivers that the decisions they make behind the wheel sets an example and can have life-long consequences?
One Split Second is an awareness and prevention video that links dangerous driving behaviors to the devastating effects of traumatic brain injury. Brain injury is currently the leading cause of death and disability for people between the ages of 15 and 24, and 44% of brain injury is caused by car crashes. This video is based on our award-winning KEYS program, which has been honored by the Central Massachusetts Safety Council for being "powerful" and "effective" in reaching new teen drivers.
Driver education school's owners in Massachusetts have found this to be an effective tool in reaching parents during the mandatory two-hour parent class. According to Robin C. Ryan, owner of Laporte and Carey's Auto Driving Schools based in Worcester,
"This video is having a tremendous impact on the parents. It's making them realize how important it is for everyone to buckle up and stay off their cell phones, even themselves."
