Brains at Risk

Judges, district attorneys, clerk magistrates, probation officers,and defense attorneys throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts make referrals to the program and may require the program as a condition of probation or as an alternative to formal sentencing. For more than a decade, Brains At Risk has been successfully educating and helping individuals, ages 17 and older, to understand the power of individual choice in preventing injury. A 2009 report of the Brains At Risk Evaluation Project indicates that the program is having a significant impact on attendees.

The science-based Brains At Risk curriculum combines video, graphics and group discussion to bring to life the consequences of impaired driving and the choices made behind the wheel. The one session program includes:
According to the Final Report, the most influential and powerful factors were the survivor speakers, survivor stories and photo crashes. Survivors of brain injury, who share their personal stories, are a unique and special feature available only through the prevention programs of BIA-MA.
Brains at Risk Referral Process
The referral process is simple and easy. Just download and print the form above, complete and fax to 508-475-0039.
Brains At Risk will provide the referred individual with the necessary information for the seminar within two weeks
and notify the appropriate agency of program completion (or failure) within five days of the scheduled seminar.
Brains At Risk has sites throughout Massachusetts, serving more than one hundred cities and towns. The Brains At Risk
staff assign referred individuals to the next available seminar that is closest to their home. Seminars for Spanish speaking individuals are also available in Salem and Worcester.
