How much does Think A-Head cost?
There is no charge for the Think-A-Head program, however donations are appreciated and enable BIA-MA to educate students throughout the Commonwealth. The suggested donation for grades 4 – 7 is $150 and $200 for grades 8 – 12.
How long is the program?
  • The elementary program is 45-60 minutes long.
  • The middle school program is 50-70 minutes long.
  • The high school program is 60-80 minutes long.
  • Length may vary according to the modules chosen,
    and the school’s timeframe and request.


When can Think A-Head come to our school?
We present throughout the school year. Programs begin from 9:00 a.m. onwards.
What is the format of the presentation?
The curriculum is primarily presented via a PowerPoint presentation, but also includes several videos, interactive components, and a brain injury survivor speaker (grades 8 and above) to engage students.
Who teaches the Think A-Head program?
Think A-Head is conducted by a presenter trained by the Brain Injury Association of Massachusettts. Presenters bring with them a variety of experience from the field of brain injury, rehabilitation and/or education. Presenters may be educators, brain injury professionals, nurses, therapists, et cetera. All Think A-Head presenters share a passion for brain injury prevention and education, and are CORI cleared.

How many Think A-Head programs can you conduct in a day?
Normally no more that three programs will be conducted in a day, though special needs will be considered upon request.
Do you do assemblies?
Yes, up to 200 students at a time is preferred.
Will a brain injury survivor speaker come to our school?
A brain injury survivor speaker will be included as part of the program if your students are in grades 8 or above.
What equipment do we need to host a TAH presentation?
  • A screen or clean whiteboard
  • An extension cord with access to an electrical outlet
  • A table suitable for an LCD projector, a laptop computer and speakers
  • A podium and microphone for assembly presentations

Does Think A-Head discuss sports injury?
In our middle and high school programs we offer a sports concussion module that describes what a concussion is, how they are sustained, symptoms and the healing process of the brain.
Can you bring us helmets?
We cannot provide helmets directly but recommend that you get in touch with your local trauma hospital, police or fire department.
